Original 'Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 116234 Black Dial' from the year 2006. First released in 1945, the Rolex Datejust is of course unmissable when you think of Rolex. The beautiful Jubilee bracelet, with the 18K white gold fluted bezel, for which this watch is known, gives this watch a beautiful look. This watch features a beautiful Original Rolex Black dial. The dial features the famous text “Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Superlative Chronometer Officially certified” and swiss made printing. Compared to its older brother (the 16234), the Rolex 116234 does not have the famous text T swiss made T, but Swiss made. This is due to the transition from tritium to LumiNova in the hour markers and hands in 2006; this was changed from LumiNova to Super-LumiNova. This Rolex Datejust 116234 has the 3135 automatic movement with a quickset date function and sapphire crystal. What makes this watch even more special is the very popular Roulette date display, or two-colour date display as Rolex calls it.

A brief history about the Rolex Datejust:

The Rolex Datejust was first included in the Rolex collection in 1945 to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary. This made the Rolex Datejust the first automatic self-winding wristwatch that could simultaneously read the date at the 3 o'clock position of the dial, while at midnight the date automatically jumped to the next day. We all know the Rolex Datejust with the famous and beloved Jubilee bracelet, which of course takes its name from Rolex's 40th anniversary when this model was released.

Now, the first Rolex Datejust the reference 4467, was made only in 18K yellow gold, which lasted until the 1950s. Nowadays, we know the Rolex in many different versions; think of the two-tone models, the models with the Oyster bracelet, as well as with the smooth bezel and the engine-turned bezel, which is no longer released.
