Rolex released the first Submariner in 1953. The Submariner can be called the most iconic, most recognizable, most influential and most important sports watch of all time. The Rolex Submariner was the first dive watch that could go up to 100 meters underwater and had a 60-minute rotating bezel that allowed divers to keep track of exactly how long they had been underwater. To this day, the basis of the Rolex Submariner remains the same. The model pictured here dates from 1993 and has Serial Number S. This Submariner 16610 features an automatic movement caliber 3135 with quickset date function, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a black dial with original Tritium hour markers and hands.
